Empowering Women & Youth to Transform Agriculture
Across Zambia, women make up the majority of smallholder farmers—yet many remain excluded from finance, markets, and decision-making spaces. At Nkonka Women in Agribusiness (NWAB), we are changing this reality by equipping women and youth with the tools, networks, and opportunities needed to thrive across the agricultural value chain. We are building a future where women and young people are not just participants—but leaders driving agricultural transformation, food security, and economic growth.
Capacity Building & Skills Development
We provide targeted training, mentorship, and technical support to strengthen productivity and agribusiness performance. Our programmes focus on: Modern farming techniques Agribusiness management Value addition and processing Climate-smart agricultural practices By building practical, market-relevant skills, we empower women and youth to operate profitable and sustainable agricultural enterprises.
Market Linkages & Value Chain Development
Access to markets is key to unlocking income and growth. We connect farmers and agribusiness entrepreneurs to: Off-takers and buyers Processors and aggregators Local and regional markets Through structured value chain development, we ensure that women and youth move beyond production into profitable, market-driven agriculture.
Financial Inclusion & Agrifinance
We work to close the financing gap faced by women and youth in agriculture. Our initiatives support: Access to savings and credit facilities Linkages to financial institutions Cooperative and group financing models Long-term development of a revolving agrifinance fund By improving access to finance, we enable participants to invest, scale, and sustain their agribusiness ventures.
Policy Advocacy & Inclusive Systems
We actively engage with government and stakeholders to influence policies that support inclusive agricultural growth. Our advocacy focuses on: Gender-responsive agricultural policies Youth inclusion in agribusiness Fair access to resources and opportunities We ensure that the voices of women and youth are represented in shaping the future of agriculture in Zambia.
Climate-Smart Agriculture
We promote sustainable practices that increase productivity while protecting the environment. Our work includes: Climate-resilient farming methods Soil and water conservation Sustainable land use practices This approach strengthens long-term food security, environmental sustainability, and resilience against climate change.
Mobilisation & Organisational Development
We build strong grassroots structures that empower communities from within. Through District Women’s Associations (DWAs), we: Mobilise women and youth into organised groups Strengthen leadership and governance Promote agriculture as a viable business This creates a foundation for long-term impact, ownership, and scalability.
